A huge honour has been bestowed upon the La Reynette Centre for the frail at a recent awards ceremony.
When the centre opened its doors about eight years ago, the founder Reinetta Ridley never realised how much of an impact it would have on the community it serves; but the recognition they received at the West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism (WRCBT) Awards evening recently is enough proof.
“We were a finalist last year and thought we – hopefully – would be again this year,” she said.
Being announced as this year’s winner in the Independent Entrepreneur, Small Business Unique Product – Service Innovation category, however, surprised her.
“I felt proud when I stepped onto the stage. Our team of 20 caregivers have been working so hard over the last few years and to be recognised for that is a wonderful feeling.”
A modest Ridley, who was a finalist in the Business Woman Achiever category, said they are not always perfect but try their utmost to give only their best.
“The awards will be put up in our office so that people can see that our standards have been recognised.”
The Centre currently has 12 patients, but can accommodate up to 19.
