Update your Muldersdrift Police Station numbers

Residents are urged to use the 1011 number first.

Following a recent article in a daily newspaper that highlighted the erroneous telephone listings for police stations across the country, a local Community Policing Forum chairman weighs in.

Muldersdrift CPF chairman Jorncy Page recommends using the police emergency number 10111 first in any situation.

“Or, if you have any information on criminal activity, call 0860 010111,” he advises.

“The police, just like all other South Africans, are vulnerable to cable theft. When all the Telkom wires were stolen in the area about a year ago, the Muldersdrift Police Station replaced the existing landlines with new wireless telephones.

As a result our telephone number changed,” Page explains. Unfortunately these numbers do not appear to have been updated on the SAPS website or older phone books, he explains.

“We apologise for any frustration or inconvenience caused to our residents. As most of the directory listings are incorrect we recommend that all our residents update their own telephone lists with the correct numbers:

• SAPS Muldersdrift on 011 952 4600 (office hours) or 011 952 4642 (after hours)

• Sector 1 van: 071 675 7060

• Sector 2 van: 071 675 7059

• Sector 3 van: 071 675 7061

“Please remember it should be 10111 first, then the sector numbers and finally the police station itself. We also remind residents that sector van numbers are manned by on-duty policemen who may not be available immediately if responding to an incident at that moment.”

If you need help in an emergency, remember these important numbers:

• SAPS Flying Squad: 10111

• Ambulance: 011 951 3000

• Fire brigade: 011 951 3030

Mike Francisco, security spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Communication Action Group also reminds residents that there is a Community Policing Forum dedicated to the area.

The Sector Managers, Warrant Officer De Jager (sector 1), WO Ngwenya (sector 2) and WO Van Zyl (sector 3) can be contacted through the Muldersdrift Police Station on 011 952 4600.

“Remember, in an emergency it is always best to call the flying squad number as these calls are recorded,” concludes Page.
