Private hospital continues to excel

The hospital is committed to deliver on the growing health care needs of the community.

Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital, a regional winner of the Netcare Quality Leadership Award in the group’s Carer of the Year Awards, has proven its mettle by continually providing specialised, multi-disciplinary medical services.

Commenting on the hospital receiving this prestigious accolade, Motlalentoa Motsoane, general manager at Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital says, “The award is based on a number of factors including patient/customer satisfaction, performance related to the Best Care…Always! campaign, Department of Health (DoH) core standards, clinical governance, the establishment of antibiotic stewardship committees and various Netcare clinical quality initiatives that are aligned to international best practice; as well as adherence to the Netcare Way programme.

“We are passionate about delivering quality clinical care to patients, and continue to invest in new technologies and equipment that will help improve patient outcomes.”

One of the recent developments undertaken to keep abreast of new technology includes an upgrade to the catheterisation laboratory, which will improve the quality of care to patients.

All operating theatres also are currently undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment with the addition of new medical equipment such as gastro and colonoscopy (G and C) equipment, an orthopaedic theatre bed and a neurosurgery microscope.

The radiology department also has integrated a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) into its existing software system.

PACS is a medical imaging technology that provides doctors with convenient access via computer to electronic images from multiple types of radiology equipment. In addition, to streamline business and administration processes, the patient information system also was upgraded.

“Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital is grateful for the chance to support doctors professionally and we look forward to continue providing medical practitioners with the opportunity to stay abreast of the most recent developments in best practice and medicine,” he adds.

“Nursing forms the backbone of any health care system and we acknowledge the incredible work done by our nurses. On International Nurses Day this year, we showed our appreciation by hosting a celebration in their honour, which we then entered into the Netcare ‘Best Nurses Day event’ competition. We are pleased that Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital emerged as the winner in the category for big hospitals in Netcare’s Gauteng South West region,” says Motsoane.

In line with the hospital’s commitment to deliver on the growing health care needs of the communities, Netcare Krugersdorp is pleased to welcome a number of new doctors into the Netcare family. They are Dr G Capatos – physician intensivist, Dr H Smith – gastroentorologist, Dr T Mokotong – physician, Dr M Molokomme – psychiatrist, Dr M Matjila – psychiatrist, Dr E Ndzeru – orthopaedic surgeon and Dr J Azhar – neurosurgeon.

Another new development at Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital is the roll-out of a Wi-Fi network in partnership with MWEB.

“Delivering quality care to our patients remains our first and foremost priority. We remain committed to providing the professional and compassionate care patients have become accustomed to receiving at our facility and investing in the latest medical equipment and technology in order to enhance patient outcomes and the overall patient experience,” concludes Motsoane.
