Spring line-up at Garden World

Apart from the spectacular gardens on show, Garden World also hosts exciting events.

At Garden World spring always comes early. This year the team has pulled out all the stops to make their Spring Festival a memorable one.

Besides the magnificent award winning Chelsea Exhibit on show at Garden World, there are also the fantastic Designer Gardens, Garden Revamps, Schools Gardens depicting ‘Gardens through the Eyes of a Child’ and educational exhibits by the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden and Rand Water with their Water Wise campaign. A new exhibitor, the North West University is showcasing how nature can benefit us all from within the garden.

Apart from the spectacular gardens on show, Garden World also hosts exciting events:

• 9 August

There will be a children’s workshop from 2pm. The topic is: Make your own bird feeder.

This is a wonderful workshop where children learn how to entice all their feathered friends into the garden.

Cost is R50 per child, which includes the kit to make the bird feeder and enjoy a tractor ride.

• 12 August

Garden World’s famous JJ van Rensburg (he is also a radio personality) will give a talk about the Chelsea Exhibit from 9.30am.

Cost is R45 per person and includes refreshments and entrance to the Designer Gardens.

• 16 August

Gardening guru Jane Griffith will give a lecture on Urban Gardening in Small Spaces with Talborne Organics from 10.30am.

Join Jane and learn more about container gardening with tips and tricks for your urban garden. Jane also will cover gardening in general and share clever concepts to create more planting space and how to include this in the bigger garden.

Cost is R110 per person which includes the talk, a goodie bag, a light luncheon and a fabulous prize giveaway.

• 23 August

Herb gurus Margaret and Sandy Roberts will share their love of herbs and demonstrate recipes in their lecture Cosmetics from your Herb Garden from 9.30am. This can be done in your very own kitchen. Cost is R100 per person and will include the talk/ demonstration, a goodie bag, refreshments and a fabulous prize giveaway.

• 30 August

Bring the children for an exciting puppet show in Garden World’s Puppet Idols. Puppets will do anything to get the votes of the audience to be crowned The Puppet Idol of the day. Show starts at 11am. Cost is R40 per child.

• 31 August

Bring the children for an exciting puppet show. The puppets will teach the children the ABC of Africa.

Cost is R40 per child, which includes the puppet show with around 30 puppets.
