Casino staff gives classrooms a fresh look

Tsakani Primary is situated in Silverstar’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Investment catchment area.

Silverstar  Casino staff recently dedicated their time to refresh the classrooms of the Tsakani Primary School in Kagiso.

“We cleaned and painted classrooms and donated approximately R12 000 towards this initiative to celebrate Mandela Day,” says Carin Furstenburg, CSI administrator at Silverstar.

Kagiso community members volunteered to prepare the classrooms for painting ahead of time and also were there on the day to assist Silverstar staff, pupils and parents who pitched in to finish the job.

Women of the community prepared traditional food on an open fire for all the volunteers to keep them fortified.

Tsakani Primary School is situated in Silverstar’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Investment (CSI) catchment area.

Besides donations, Silverstar’s CSI initiatives also include a sports development programme in the Munsieville, Kagiso and Swanieville communities of Mogale City as well as an annual donation to the Black Eagle Project Roodekrans.

“We had lots of fun on the day and were inspired by the sense of pride the community has towards the school and their enthusiasm to give the classrooms a new lease on life,” she says.
