Mom dies three months after accident

Both mother and son have died after crashing into a tree three months ago.

The mother of Cayden (4), the boy who past away shortly after being in an accident with his mother, has also died.

Marizel Senekal past away yesterday (19 June) after being in a coma for three months.

The news learned of Senekal’s death who was left in a coma after crashing her vehicle into a tree on Robert Broom Drive when she allegedly lost control.

Cayden died less than a week after the accident.

Funeral arrangements are currently underway for Senekal.

The NEWS just learned that the boy, Cayden (4)  who was critically injured in an accident last week with his mother, Marizel Senekal, has tragically died.

Cayden was travelling with his mother when she allegedly lost control of the vehicle resulting in her crashing into a tree on Robert Broom Drive.

The mother is however still in a critical condition in the Krugersdorp Netcare Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are currently underway for Cayden.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to rescue a woman and a boy after their vehicle had crashed into a tree on Robert Broom Drive in Rant-en-Dal on 6 March.

Information obtained indicates that the driver of the vehicle lost control. This is the third vehicle accident on this road in just two weeks.

The emergency medical services of Netcare 911 and the West Rand District Municipality’s Fire Department and members of the Sector 3 Community Policing Forum were on the scene quickly to help to free the driver and her passenger.

Santi Steinmann, spokesperson for Netcare 911 says they found that both occupants were in a critical condition.

“Emergency Services had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the two patients from the vehicle.”

The Netcare1 helicopter airlifted the critically injured boy to hospital while the mother was rushed to hospital by ambulance for the urgent medical care they required.

Exact details about the cause of the accident and preceding events will be investigated by the police.
