Mogale City and the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) invite small businesses and cooperatives operating within the boundaries of Mogale City to apply before 18 June to take part in an incubator programme.
The Seda Construction Incubator (SCI) is an initiative of Seda Technology Programme. The incubator was formed because there is a need to support emerging contractors operating their businesses within the boundaries of Mogale City Municipality.
Seda has found that small companies in the construction sector often reach the ceiling early in their development because they are unable to develop their business beyond the survival stage – mainly due to managerial and operational constraints.
Business owners need to adhere to the following criteria to take part in the incubator programme:
• Be a permanent resident of Mogale City
• Be prepared to operate the business under the Incubator for a period of three years
• Have a registered business with the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission (CIPC)
• Be registered with Sars and have a tax certificate
• Have the ability to read and write English
The incubator was formed to:
• Identify emerging contractors within the Mogale City area who have demonstrated potential to develop into a formidable entity by achieving a financial grade one or higher registration on the register of contractors
• Provide business support services including business administration, financial management and technical support, as well as generic business administration, HR management and statutory compliance
• Provide office space for contractors that qualify to be participants in the incubator as well as in the following:
* Programming and resource scheduling
* Cash flow forecasting
* Working capital financing finalisation
* Site Administration Systems Development, including budget and actual cost reporting
* Quality control measures
* Work measurements and payment certification
* Claims for variations and extras
* Management of subcontractors
* General business administration
The invitation does not guarantee inclusion in the programme. Only contractors who meet selection criteria will be appointed to the programme and only a limited number of contractors will be selected because space is limited.
