Successful conviction of former WRDM employee’s killer

"We once more congratulate the criminal justice system for ensuring that justice is done."

The West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) welcomes the 25 years sentence handed down to the killer of the late Ike Genu.

Genu, who was an employee of the West Rand District Municipality’s Public Safety Department, was murdered brutally in his house on 9 September 2013.

Vincent Jaoka of Kagiso 2 was found guilty of the crime in the Palm Ridge Magistrates’ Court on 22 May and sentenced to 25 years effectively.

“We extend our appreciation to members of the community and ANC structures who stood firm in ensuring that the culprit is apprehended.

“We once more congratulate the criminal justice system for ensuring that justice is done. We always have trusted that the ruling party will continue to emphasise its commitment to building safer communities as part of its priorities in its manifesto,” says Dennis Refentse Mangope, spokesperson of Mpho Nawa, WRDM Executive Mayor.
