Lanseria closes after another incident

The runway was closed after an alarming incident.

Lanseria International Airport had to close its runway after an incident involving another Beechcraft Baron aircraft.

According to the spokesperson of the airport, Claudette Vianello, the small aircraft landed on its undercarriage after its landing gear failed shortly after taking off this morning 13 February.

The runway has been closed to allow for a full inspection and to remove the aircraft. It was scheduled to reopen at 10.15am.
Fortunately none of the four people on board were injured.

This is the second alarming incident at the airport within the space of 10 days.

Last week three people lost their lives after a Beechcraft 90 series King Air crashed in stormy weather.
