Pensioner (81) murdered in Kromdraai

A pensioner was murdered on Reconciliation Day in Kromdraai.

The Randfontein Police arrested three suspects yesterday 17 December in connection with the murder of an 81-year-old pensioner.

Constable Tshepiso Mashale, a police spokesperson says the gardener found the pensioner, Ronald Kerby on Reconciliation Day, 16 December when he noticed that things was not normal at the property in Kromdraai.

“The gates and garage were wide open and he became suspicious where after he contacted the sector police.”

Mashale says when the police arrived, they entered the house.

“They found the man dead in one of the bedrooms. He had a cut to his throat and his hands and feet were tied.”

The suspects managed to flee with his vehicle and some household goods.

“Yesterday the police received information about suspicious males with firearms at a filling station in Randfontein. The police responded and searched the suspects.”

They allegedly were found with a stolen vehicle and other stolen goods from Kerby’s home.

The suspects aged 23, 27 and 32 are being detained at the Krugersdorp Police Station and were charged with house robbery and murder.

“It is a job well done by police officers who quickly responded and arrested the suspects,” says Mashale.

The suspects will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
