Police officer loves working with the community

Constable Tshepiso Mashale is the newly appointed spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.

The South African Police Service in Krugersdorp has a new voice.

Constable Tshepiso Mashale from Soweto, the newly appointed spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police, loves working with the community and makes it her mission to let them feel safe in their surroundings.

“It is a proud moment for me when I get into my uniform.”

She feels that it is her duty as a police officer to give guidance to teenage girls and speak to them about crime, prostitution and pregnancy.

“I always wanted to be a police officer and I know what I am here for – I always give a 110 per cent for my job because the community relies on us to bring the change they urge.”

She admits that being the spokesperson might be challenging as she will be the face of the police station, yet she is ready to make a difference and ensure her community that the police will keep them informed about what is happening in their areas.

“I will do my best to be more visible. Our community needs to feel safe where they live and it will be my aim as a police officer to make sure that this happen as I want the community to know about the modus operandi of criminals operating in the area.”

When not on duty Tshepiso enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym and watching movies.

Her pillar of strength is her husband Thanks, who also is a police officer and works at the Silverton Police Station.

“He is very supportive and is proud of my being promoted to communications officer at the Krugersdorp Police Station. We as a family are very happy together,” says Tshepiso, the mother of two sons, Ntsako (5) and Nyiko (1).
