Landfill Site still smoking
The municipality confirmed efforts are still ongoing to extinguish the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site fire.
Following a fire outbreak at the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site over the weekend, Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Department of Integrated Environmental Management assured residents that efforts to extinguish the fire at the landfill are ongoing.

MCLM communications officer Adrian Amod stated on Thursday, July 25, that the open flames have been successfully extinguished and significant progress has been made to control smoke.

“We ask for residents’ continued patience during this time and reassure those living near the landfill site that no residential areas are currently under threat.”
