New hope for animals in need at 9th Day

The 9th Day Animal Rescue Centre received much-needed resources due to a kind donation from Amecor. This was done in the spirit of Mandela Day.

The company’s team dedicated their time and resources to support the centre committed to rehabilitating abandoned and abused animals.

According to Amecor’s billing administrator Sasha Beckett, the company donates monthly to various charities as part of their Amecor Gives Back campaign.

“We have made monetary donations for the past two years for Mandela Day, but this year we decided that we also wanted to contribute our time doing something meaningful.

Since most of our donations throughout the year go to ‘human’ charities, we wanted to select an animal charity this time.

“We were looking for a charity that needed assistance. We know that all organisations, especially animals, all need assistance but when we heard that 9th Day deals with more of our four-legged friends than just dogs and cats, and that they deal mostly with injured and stray animals, we knew that we wanted to help them. We visited the organisation and saw how well loved and cared for the animals were but that there were many outstanding needs from repairing gates and hose pipes to providing cleaning equipment, blankets, feeding bowls, and food,” Sasha elaborated.

Amecor collected kennels, dog food, cleaning products, rakes, mops and brooms, black bags, sponges, as well as treats for the dogs. Sasha further revealed they will also be contributing towards the centre’s outstanding vet bill and took time to try and fix some of the fences and gates not to mention clean the kennels and surrounding paths.

What a blast we had this morning helping 9th Day. I think we enjoyed it as much as the dogs did,” Sasha said.
