WATCH: Two locals fly high with Jacques Kallis

Lucky winners enjoy their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet South Africa's greatest all-rounder.

The odds of you winning the lottery greatly increase when you buy a ticket. The same can be said for two lucky residents who had the opportunity to fly in a helicopter with a South African cricket legend.

On Monday, June 17, Yolandi van Staden and Eldah Kentseng Bojosi excitedly made their way to President Hyper in Krugersdorp to meet Jacques Kallis, before being taken on a helicopter flight with him.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was the result of the Fly with Jacques Kallis competition presented by President Hyper and Africa Spice. The competition was run in the Vaal, Fochville and Krugersdorp stores. All you had to do to win the grand prize, was buy any Jacques Kallis product, write your details on your till slip and pop it into the entry box. Jacques visited the respective stores for a quick meet and greet with the community, before joining the winners for the flight of a lifetime.

Jacques was warmly welcomed in the store by community members and staff alike, spent some time signing autographs and taking photos, and said, “Thanks for all the support, especially for the products, but also to everyone who came out to say hello. I have met a lot of people today and everyone has been very friendly. I want to say thank you for making me feel welcome, as always.”

He also had a message for the Proteas team which is currently playing in the T20 World Cup.

“We hope they go well, all South Africans are behind them and we are all hoping they will go the extra step and bring the cup home.”

Yolandi, who resides in Randfontein, said she only entered once and couldn’t believe it when she was selected as a winner.

“I usually buy the Jacques Kallis range of patties and boerewors. This time I bought some of the spices with my groceries and entered the competition. I did not believe it when I heard I was a winner; the news took a while to sink in. I hadn’t flown in a helicopter before and was a bit scared. I enjoyed the flight, and, as soon as we were in the air I was not scared, the pilot made me feel safe and comfortable. I will do it again!”

Eldah, a Munsieville resident, said she bought spices to enter. “I was happy to learn I am one of the winners, and, even though I have not flown in a helicopter before, I enjoyed the experience.”
