Low water levels and supply challenges across Mogale City

Residents of Mogale City have been urged to use water sparingly after the failure at Rand Water's Eikenhof pump station. Four areas are currently affected with more areas expected to be impacted soon.

Rand Water has advised residents in Kagiso, Luipaardsvlei, West Village, and Munsieville that they will experience low water levels and supply challenges. It is expected other areas may be affected soon.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s Water and Sanitation Services Department stated on Saturday, March 25, saying this was due to an Eikenhof System pump failure since Tuesday night.

This has reduced all booster stations’ pumping, causing lower reservoir levels with Kagiso, Luipaardsvlei, West Village, and Munsieville already experiencing low water pressure.

Rand Water also informed that the incident might result in the depletion of all Rand Water reservoirs. It has also been noted that some areas have been without water for several days. Mogale City Water services thus urged communities to use water sparingly. Water Tankers will also be made available in the most affected areas.

Rand Water further confirmed they are working on the issues and apologised for any inconvenience.
