Hostel murder and mob attack within days

Krugersdorp Police came to the rescue of a man during a mob attack in Munsieville. It turns out this 'victim' has since been arrested on suspicion of a murder in West Village.

A man who was saved from an angry mob has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Krugersdorp Police Captain Raymond Sebonyane revealed they had received a call about a murder at about 23:45 on Saturday, February 25. The murder had happened at the BBR Hostel in Tom Muller Street in the West Village.

He said when police arrived the emergency services were already on the scene and the victim was lying on the floor with a stab wound to the upper body. Paramedics had declared him dead on the scene. The following day, however, the police received another call at about 14:30 about a mob attack in Munsieville.

They managed to rescue the man. The investigation revealed the man had stabbed and killed someone in West Village.

“The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment where he is under police guard.”

Sebonyane said the 32-year-old man will be appearing in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon and added that the Krugersdorp Police Station Commander Brigadier Happy Xaba was pleased with the arrest.
