Residents urged to use water sparingly – reservoir levels at 38%

The municipality has pleaded with the community to use water sparingly as current reservoir levels are sitting at 38%.

Mogale City Local Municipality issued a statement saying that although Rand Water and Johannesburg Water reservoir levels have improved, their own reservoir levels are still only at 38 per cent. They are now pleading with the community to use water sparingly.

The improvement in both the Rand Water and Johannesburg Water reservoir levels meant the two suppliers could start pumping water into the Mogale City Reservoirs, which is slowly recovering.

Currently, our reservoir levels are sitting at 38% which is critically low due to high water demand. We continue to plead with consumers to reduce their consumption and refrain from trying to store water by filling bathtubs and other containers. These actions drop water levels in our reservoirs as they do not get a chance to fill up.”

In the mean time the municipality will continue providing water tankers until the reservoirs has fully recovered.
