Man arrested driving stolen car in Magalies

Police in Magaliesburg has arrested a man for driving a stolen vehicle linked to a motor vehicle theft case in Bekkersdal.

The Magaliesburg Police has arrested a 38-year old man after as he was found with a stolen vehicle.

Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere from the Magaliesburg police said in a statement that the man was arrested on Thursday, January 19 at 23:15 by members of the police’s Rural Safety unit.

Sergeant Carolus Johannes Luus and Sergeant Shaun van Niekerk were busy with stop and searches on the R24/ Rustenburg road when they spotted a blue Hyundai coupe on it’s way from Rustenburg.

They stopped the vehicle on the corner of Rustenburg and Hekpoort Road in Newthorndale, and did a routine check. Only the one man was in the vehicle and he was searched as well. The preliminary investigation done by the two members revealed that the vehicle was linked to a motor vehicle theft case in Bekkersdal.

“The suspect was placed under arrest and detained at the Magaliesburg station while the investigation continues.”
