West Rand cops honoured for their hard work with medals
"You served this institution and the country with distinction, honour and with pride and for that we are proud to have you in the service."
Police officers throughout the West Rand were honoured for their hard work and dedication, and for putting their lives on the line.
This was during a medal parade hosted by West Rand District Police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana at the Greenhills Stadium on August 17.
The awards were handed to those serving in the police force for a period of 10, 20 and 30 years respectively and among those honoured were police officers from Randfontein, Westonaria and Bekkersdal.
We are honouring these members at a time when all eyes are on the police, especially with the recent incident in Krugersdorp.
“You served this institution and the country with distinction, honour and with pride, and for that we are proud to have you in the service.
“You sacrificed a lot to be where you are today. You have also compromised your lives by offering yourselves and not engaging in activities that are not in line with being an officer of the law.
Your hard work bore fruits and does not go unnoticed,” said Kekana who urged the members to keep up the good work.
He also urged the officers not to be deterred by negative comments about officers of the law that are hard-working and dedicated. They should not be obstructed in their duties and always remember their constitutional mandate which is to serve and protect.
