LETTER: ‘Issue of illegal foreigners should’ve been addressed back in 2016’

Had the government taken heed to the call made by the Action SA President, Herman Mashaba in 2016 about addressing the issue of illegal foreigners, things would have been different and our women and children would be safer – ActionSA on Krugersdorp gang rape suspects.

• Marcel Coutriers, Action SA Joburg Caucus Chief Whip writes:

As the Action SA Johannesburg Caucus of Councillors we welcome the arrest of the Krugersdorp gang rape suspects.

While we pray for the speedy recovery of the victims, we urge the justice system to leave no stone unturned in dealing with these alleged criminals who have no regard for our judiciary. Had the government taken heed to the call made by the Action SA President, Herman Mashaba in 2016 about addressing the issue of illegal foreigners, things would have been different and our women and children would be safer.

We reiterate our call in demanding for proper governance and control on all our borders.

Action SA together with like-minded South Africans will continue to fight for the rule of law and the securing of our borders. As Action SA, we are of the view that the suspects deserve no bail and should remain in custody for the duration of the trial.

We will continue to monitor all developments pertaining to this very case and to other related cases.
