Kagiso Police recently took the time not only to visit but also to listen to the public, and raise awareness about issues that plague their community.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson said like other communities Kagiso also has its social challenges. Gender-based violence, however, still dominate in the entire district. The areas where violent crimes are rife include Leratong Village, Tshepisong, Tshepisong West and Swanieville.
On Wednesday, 20 January, members from the police’s Crime Prevention Unit and Communications Department in the District continued with awareness campaigns to sensitise residents on social challenges.
The police had the opportunity to engage and get some clarity on a variety of issues that involve crime.
The wearing of masks was also enforced during the all-day campaign. With Tshepisong under the spotlight, more energy was channelled to it, especially addressing crimes like house robberies, child neglect, hijacking, domestic violence, and armed robberies and rape incidents in open spaces,” Sibiya said.
He added that Major General Fred Kekana, the West Rand District Police Commissioner, was pleased with by the efforts of his members to reach out to communities.
