All the help you need in one place

What started as an emergency services group has now grown into an efficient emergency team.

Late in October 2018, the West Rand District Municipality’s (WRDM) Disaster Management unit and Station 38 Fire and Rescue, also known as the Krugersdorp Fire Services, established an emergency services group named Mogale Response Services.

The rate at which the group grew surprised everyone and soon more and more services became part of it. The group was proving to be very effective because of all the different services it was able to provide.

In effect it meant that with only one message to the group, all the necessary emergency services would be informed, for example of an incident, and could then respond accordingly.

But they did not stop there. They eventually grew to where they are now providing training, doing emergency and disaster simulations and placing their main focus on the effectiveness, readiness and response of the emergency services.

To date the group has provided training in firefighting and incident safety and command, and in-dept first aid training.

Some institutions that are part of this group are the Krugersdorp Community Policing Forum, West Village Neighbourhood Watch, local police, Gauteng Roads Department, Disaster Management, 107 Emergency Operations Centre, Fire and Rescue, Fire Risk Management, Community Safety, Mogale City Public Safety, Netcare 911, First Help and Gauteng Health.

However, they are not done with training and are planning to offer communication training, motor vehicle rescue training, venue operations centre and joint operations centre training.

In the limited time this group has been up and running, it has been so successful that the Mogale team has been asked to meet with Merafong role players to give them guidance in establishing a similar group in that area.

For more information about the unit and the training it offers, contact their communication officer, Sharday on 064 169 7922 or Jacques on 062 816 5471.

The team would also like to thank President Hyper for always supporting them.
