When they reached the Midas store in Luipaardsvlei, they were allegedly approached from behind by a white bakkie, a white car and another car.

The registration numbers of all the vehicles are unknown.

It is alleged that about eight attackers armed with assault rifles started firing at the van, hitting both side windows, the windscreen, the fuel tank, the front doors and the tyres.

The driver refused to stop and continued driving towards the Krugersdorp Police Station. The attackers fled the scene.

Once at the police station, the driver and his colleague were assisted by paramedics and the police.

It is believed that the driver was hit by one bullet and the passenger by two. Reportedly no cash was taken.
