JUST IN: No bail for #TripleMurder suspects

The packed courtroom heard new details of how the community will harm the accused if they are granted bail.

The bail applications of three of the four suspects who appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court this morning in connection with the murders of three Krugersdorp residents have been denied.

Magistrate Delize Smith had postponed the verdicts on the bail applications of Christiaan Kruger (29), Leroux Steyn (20) and Marcel Steyn (18) until today (13 July) in order to consider their statements.

The remaining accused, a 32-year-old man (referred to as accused number two) has not yet pleaded, nor has he applied for bail. He will remain in custody.

Kruger (accused number one), and the Steyn siblings (accused three and four) are all in police custody facing Schedule 6 charges of theft, robbery with aggravating circumstance, kidnapping and murder.

The court heard that the community has threatened to cause harm to the accused should they be granted bail.

It is believed that more suspects may join the four in court soon as the investigation is still under way.

More details on this morning’s appearance will be published shortly.
