Criminals run, Ngubane is back

Kagiso police welcomes back a top cop who only has one thing on his mind ...

Within a matter of days of his return, a total of 11 shebeens were shut down. The message is clear; Brigadier Sipho Ngubane is back in town.

Two years has passed since his transfer as the Head of the Provisional Visible Policing (Vispol) Unit, and now Brigadier Ngubane can call Kagiso his home once again.

Ngubane was the Kagiso Police’s Station Commander from 2010 until 2013 when he was transferred to Provincial.

Celebrating 30 years in the South African Police Service, Ngubane joined the force in 1986 as a ‘civil servant’ as he referred to it while sitting down for an interview for the News.

In his career he has fulfilled many titles in various positions and has served in Pinetown, Ivory Park, Roodepoort, Gauteng Provincial and now Krugersdorp again at the Kagiso Station.

His game plan upon his return has not changed much but more focus on crime hot spots are given as he plans to intensify his efforts on the so-called problem areas around town. These areas include Tshepisong and Swaneville.

Crime prevention operations in line with the current crime trends are among his plans to take back Kagiso and make it a safer place for the community.

He also plans to get the community more involved by means of crime prevention initiatives which works hand-in-hand with the police to help combat crime.

Another focus for the Brigadier would be to delve deeper into the archives of suspects still wanted by police and to put these criminals behind bars.

“I am back and I will hunt you,” he said about the many wanted criminals still in hiding.

He noted that it is also one of his priorities to ensure that all the members of his station are positive and driven and wake-up every morning wanting to make a difference.

“This is a common vision and shared goal and I would never be able to do all this alone. I will run the race with those who are positive and who want to win.”

He aims to keep the work space happy for fellow officers, to keep them motivated in order to work together towards a common goal.

“Even if it takes blood, sweat and tears, it is part of the game and my main focus is to eliminate crime within my jurisdiction. We are all born the same, no-one is born a bad person. If we can change the heart of one person, I will be satisfied,” Ngubane concluded.
