Presenters from 947 dressed up as superheroes and saved the day at Leratong Hospital by spreading some Christmas cheer.

The 947 team surprised both the inpatients and outpatients in the children’s ward at Leratong Hospital in a year end bash in collaboration with the Dis-Chem Foundation’s Random Act of Kindness campaign.

Greg and Lucky along with Karabo and Zweli from the 947 crew visited the children dressed as superheroes on 14 December.

They brought along gifts for each child and sweet treats were also handed out.

Dr Hannelie Potgieter, based at the hospital, wrote to 947 and the Dis-Chem Foundation.

The foundation sponsored R40 000 to cover all the gifts and treats for 100 inpatients to make Christmas special for all the children.

The hospital has a 150 bedded paediatric unit and caters for children from birth to 12 years of age.

42 of the beds are for newborns which includes premature and abandoned babies.

Apart from the inpatients, the hospital also has a paediatric outpatient department that sees between 30-40 patients a day.

The facility which deals with a wide variety of cases was lit up with a burst of excitement with a visit from the radio presenters.
