[PHOTOS] For the love of animals, let’s dance

Dancers, singers and musicians gathered and performed for a good cause.

From pirouettes to the samba, the dance floor was on fire with performers going at it for charity.

Some of the best local talent gathered to perform at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in support of Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora). Dancers from Rhythm in Us Dance Studio along with singers such as Bruwer Malan and musicians such as the visually impaired pianist who can play 36 instruments, entertained the crowd on Friday night (19 September).

Miss West Rand and Rhythm in Us dance instructor Adeline Sauerman, along with her partner Quintin Espach impressed the crowd with their Latin dances, never being even a little out of breath.

Master of ceremonies Lionel Smith and his wife Pam Smith also were present, which kicked up the dancer’s nerves a little extra. Lionel previously has been master of ceremonies for several other dance events and Pam is a well-known dance instructor who trained Adeline.

“Everyone put in an extra two hours’ practice when they found out Pam was going to be there,” Adeline said.

Spectators paid R70 plus a can of dog food for entrance, which were donated to Fora – and many came. It was a night filled with song and dance and friends, family and the community came in full support of the good cause.
