Body found near private school

A body was found near Coronation Park after a beer festival over the weekend.

Festivities at Coronation Park over the weekend ended on a bitter note after one person was found dead.

A call-out by a concerned member of the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) sent patrollers to the fence of Alma Mater Akademie in Coronation Street where a body of a young man was discovered at around 7am on Sunday morning (6 September).

Patrollers quickly reported to the scene and covered the body and cordoned off the scene until police arrived.

The body of the man was identified on the scene by friends who also attended the beer festival at the park.

It is believed the young man died of a stab wound obtained during the course of Saturday night.

A young man’s body was discovered in front of a local private school.

By 10am on Sunday the body was removed from the scene by state pathology services.

The News is currently awaiting official comment from the police regarding the incident.

“We as a community are very concerned as it seems that where alcohol and/ or drugs are involved people are either assaulted or even die. This is seen to be happening at clubs, pubs, shebeens and festivals.

“We as a crime prevention forum request urgent intervention by Mogale City Local Municipality, the Liquor Board and the police to prevent further injuries and/ or loss of lives,” Rose Menezes, public relations officer for Sector 4 CPF said.
