Police and Eskom fight ignorance together

Eskom and police set out to educate and inform about social and safety issues.

Eskom and local police partnered up at the Muldersdrift Clinic to inform residents about the dangers of electricity, domestic violence and rape.

Police often embark on awareness campaigns at this clinic, built by the community, to address certain issues.

“About 70 community members were reached,” said Hitler Ngwenya, police spokesperson.

Eskom representatives talked about the dangers of working with electrical wires. They gave some safety tips, for example not to pass electrical cords from one room to another through hinges of doors or windows where they can be damaged.

Eskom tweeted:”If outlets feel warm, frequent problems with blowing fuses or tripping circuits call a qualified electrician.”

Muldersdrift Police also informed clinic visitors about domestic violence and rape.

Constable Lucky Matome from Tarlton Police said assault incidents often involve people who know each other.
