Two stabbed at armed robbery incident

The three suspects have been arrested and will be making a brief appearance in court soon.

Three suspects aged between 24 and 33 were arrested in Rietvallei, Kagiso on Wednesday 1 July for armed robbery at a local tavern.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the complainant and his brother went to this tavern to fetch his girlfriend when they noticed two unknown men sitting next to the entry of the tavern who then questioned their presence.

The suspect then warned them not to enter as the person they were looking for was not there, but the complainant ignored it and still proceeded.

“The suspect then grabbed and pushed the complainant and his brother away. As they moved closer to the exit the suspect and his two accomplices locked the gate and attacked them with knives, stabbing them,” Sibiya said.

Both the complainant and his brother was taken to hospital.

Sibiya said the matter was reported to the police and the suspects were arrested.

They will make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing charges of assault to cause gross bodily harm.
