[BREAKING NEWS] Woman gives birth in Sterkfontein Caves
Shortly after the woman experienced a sharp pain, she went into labor deep inside the caves.
A pregnant woman, who was part of a tour group of the Sterkfontein Caves earlier this afternoon, 26 June, started to experience a sharp pain.
According to ER 24’s spokesperson Pieter Rossouw, while she was on the tour, she felt a sharp shooting pain in her abdomen.
Shortly there after she went into labor deep inside the caves.
“ER24 paramedics from the Johannesburg West branch were dispatched to the call,” Rossouw said.
“When they arrived on scene they found a beautiful baby girl had been born. The delivery had been assisted by a first aid expert that is appointment for medical emergencies at tours of the cave.”
The baby girl was allegedly born two months prematurely but in good health.
ER24 paramedics transported the mother and baby to Leratong Hospital for further assessment.
