I just returned from a trip to Cape Town with my husband.

I noticed that people living in the Cape and its surrounds have a very different way of life.

First of all the people are very courteous and respect the rules of the road. Everywhere we walked, (walking and biking are quite big there) motorists will literally stop in the middle of the road to allow you to cross it.

Secondly; their communities are very clean. We travelled quite far inland and I noticed that the only litter in the Cape is those of rotting fruit laid out for birds to feast on.

Thirdly I noticed that people are very protective of their community. Everywhere you can spot a local CPF member and amazingly they knew everyone they came across by name.

A member even approached us asking if we needed help because we looked like tourists.

I was truly amazed.

I was also a bit jealous and couldn’t help but wonder if Krugersdorp was ever like this?

Being back at the office, I do miss the Cape, but I missed my people more.

From today I am going to try to be more like the Capetonians and I challenge my fellow community members to try the same.
