[AUDIO]:Family of four involved in accident

The Jaws of Life had to be used to free a family of four following an accident opposite Laerskool Protearif on the R563 Hekpoort road this afternoon.

According to Lourens Coetzer, an ER24 paramedic on scene, a blue BMW got involved in a collision causing it to roll.

He said the driver of the vehicle said that another vehicle swerved in front of him causing him to swerve out of his way after which he lost control of the vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle sped away.

“One child is in a critical condition and was airlifted to hospital by ER24.”

Another helicopter from Netcare was called to provide assistance.

He said the Krugersdorp Fire Department is on the scene and they are currently trying to free the occupants.

Coetzer said the children are pupils from Laerskool Protearif.

The road is currently closed.
