CCTV footage showing what appears to be a female police officer doing a seemingly drunk driver a sexual favour while her male colleague accepts a bribe, has taken centre stage in the duo’s trial on charges of corruption, public indecency and prostitution.
The driver who is said to be a businessman in his 50s from Krugersdorp, according to reports handed one Boksburg police officer R550 while another ‘serviced’ him in a parking bay at a Boksburg mall in May last year.
Both officers appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court recently and pleaded not guilty to all charges against them.
Times Live reports that the state does not seem to believe the two officers’ version of the events after they claimed that they had helped the businessman who had asked for directions to an ATM.
They say they escorted him to the ATM because he did not have his glasses with him and needed help to withdraw money.
They denied counting money and said they were tearing up bank receipts and that no sexual acts occurred. On the contrary they claimed that the businessman attempted to harass the female officer sexually but she brushed him off.
The case will resume later in August.
