Head-on collision injures four

The driver of one of the vehicles was left trapped in the vehicle.

MuldThe Jaws of Life had to be used after a head-on collision between a truck and a bakkie on Friday 14 June on Beyers Naudé Drive close to Garden World in Muldersdrift.

Vanessa Jackson, ER24 spokesperson says paramedics were called out to the scene that happened at about 4.30pm.

“Paramedics were called to the scene to find that the driver of the bakkie was left trapped in the vehicle. Fire fighters used the Jaws of Life to free him from the wreckage.”

She says he was transported to a hospital by ambulance for further medical assistance.

“The front seat passenger was left with critical injuries and a medicopter was used to airlift him to the Netcare Milpark Hospital for further care.”

Jackson says the passenger in the back of the bakkie suffered moderate injuries and was transported along with the driver of the construction truck to a hospital in the area by ambulance.
