Hit-and-run victim seeks the truth

A hit-and-victim is still searching for answers that could lead him to the driver of the bakkie who knocked him off his motorcycle.

A motorcyclist is still searching for answers after becoming a hit-and-run victim.

The accident on 6 June involved the motorcyclist, a white-cream coloured Isuzu bakkie and a green Toyota Corolla. After the motorcyclist was knocked off his bike from behind, the Isuzu allegedly made a sudden stop and the green Toyota Corolla smashed into the Isuzu from behind.

One driver left behind his number plate as they fled the scene. It was unclear if the number plate belonged to the owner of the Isuzu or of the Toyota and police investigated the matter.

However, shortly after the NEWS left the scene, the owner of the green Toyota returned to fetch his registration plate.

It is believed that it may have fallen off as the vehicle smashed into the back of the Isuzu.

The victim of the hit-and-run accident, Wilhan Furstenburg is still searching for any information that could lead to finding the driver of the Isuzu who hit his motorcycle from behind on the morning of 6 June.

Not only was Wilhan left with a damaged ankle and ligaments from the accident, he also has to pay a hefty R25 000 for repairs to his motorcycle that has a broken windscreen, broken brackets holding the clocks in place, a broken brake fluid tube, a broken exhaust pipe and a damaged body.

After the accident, Wilhan also had to make alternative arrangements for transport.

“Some days, despite my injured ankle, I had to walk to work and back.”

The drivers of the Toyota and the Isuzu both stopped for a brief moment to check the damage to their own vehicles before leaving the accident scene illegally.

“I would like to urge the community to assist me with any information that may help to locate the driver of the Toyota and of the Isuzu, or to serve as a witness. Any information would help.”
