Four men arrested for hijacking, kidnapping in Tarlton

The Tarlton Police managed to arrest four men for truck hijacking and kidnapping in Tarlton recently thanks to information shared by the community and security officers.

Sergeant Sabina Mashego from the Tarlton Police said Sergeant Michael Marera and Constable Lucky Lope arrested four men aged between 31 and 40 on Monday, February 20. She said police received a call about a hijacked truck that was stopped by security officers on the N14.

“On arrival, they found the security officers and four suspects laying on the ground. It was alleged that the three suspects were driving with a victim in a white Citroën while the other suspect was following them, driving in the company’s hijacked truck.”

The security officer told the police he was approached by a member of the community who told him the truck had been hijacked in Hekpoort and that the hijackers were driving a white Citroën, also providing a registration number.

“That’s when the security officers drove in the given direction until they spotted the vehicle and the truck on the N14 Ventersdorp Road in Tarlton.”

According to the victim, he was on his way to Rustenburg when the Isuzu truck was hijacked in Hekpoort.

All arrested suspects are yet to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Tarlton Police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Magooe thanked the security officers for their efforts and contribution in the fight against crime and also the police for their response.
