Film crew attacked, several women reportedly gang-raped in West Village

Police on the West Rand are out in full force after a film crew was attacked and several women allegedly were gang-raped by illegal miners on Thursday, July 28. Victims reportedly were also robbed.
The incident occurred when the crew members, who were making a gospel music video, were attacked by illegal miners while they were filming at the mine dumps. Those raped are said to be aged between 19 and 39.
Exact details are yet to be confirmed, and the News has reached out to local and national police who are aware of the incident. A full statement will be released soon.
Speaking to residents of West Village, News journalist Natasha Pretorius was told that police were active in the area and that a shooting had ensued between illegal miners and police.
