Big explosion, heavy gunfire in Noordheuwel CIT heist

G4S cash van targeted in Noordheuwel area on Wednesday evening, December 22.

Residents of Noordheuwel and its surrounding areas are left shaken following a big explosion and gunfire in what was a CIT heist on Paardekraal Drive on Wednesday evening, December 22.

According to witnesses a G4S cash van was targeted at about 18:30. A loud explosion could be heard by many followed by heavy gunfire. Helicopters were also circling the area and a cloud of smoke hung in the air.

Some witnesses were even ducking and diving while braaiing in fear saying the gunfire was too close to home.

It has been reported that traffic is heavily backed up and residents are urged to avoid the area.

The News have reached out to provincial police who is yet to comment on the matter.
