Man sentenced to 15 years for Wentworth Park armed robbery

The Krugersdorp Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 26-year-old man to 15 years imprisonment for an armed robbery in 2019.

The 26-year-old Neo Maseko was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for armed robbery.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Captain Raymond Sebonyane said the sentence and conviction were handed down in the Krugersdorp Regional Court on June 14.

He said on November 30, 2019 the victim was walking in Coronation Street, Wentworth Park at about 06:30 when he was approached by two unknown men.

“Maseko asked for directions and suddenly pointed a firearm at the victim. He then robbed the victim of his cellphone, wallet containing an ID, and a packet of cigarettes. Maseko and his accomplice walked in a different directions of the victim.”

The victim then spotted a police vehicle in Commissioner Street and stopped them to explained what had happened.

“Sergeants Mxolisi Ntombela and Thato Molefe drove around with the victim and at Richmond Street, the victim spotted and pointed out the man who robbed him.”

Police searched Maseko and found the victim’s belongings in his possession. He was then arrested for armed robbery and possession of stolen property.

Warrant Officer Roberts worked tirelessly on the investigation and ensured the accused’s conviction.

Krugersdorp Police station commander, Brigadier Ngwako Mashao applauded his members for a job well done.
