[WATCH] Does Krugersdorp have the toughest firefighter?

Seven of Krugersdorp's top firefighters will be taking part in this year's Toughest Firefighter Alive challenge, but they need the community to help them.

The community of Krugersdorp is very fortunate to have some of the best firefighters in the country – men and women who are there when we, the community, need them most.

Sometimes there are challenges that threaten their ability to do their job, but they always overcome these obstacles and serve their community as best they can.

Now they need their community to assist and support them. Seven of the top Krugerdorp firefighters are preparing to take part in this year’s Toughest Firefighter Alive South Africa challenge.

The challenge, which will be held at the Roeland Street Fire Station in Cape Town, on 20 and 21 September, brings together some of South Africa’s toughest firefighters.

The competition was first held in 2011 and consists of four critical firefighter tasks – the hose drag and make up, an obstacle course, equipment carry up a tower, and the stair run.

The firefighters are pitted against each other to see who can complete the course in the shortest time to earn the Toughest Firefighter Alive title.

Each of the Krugersdorp firefighters will be taking a team of six members with them to assist them. Each team member will need R8 000 to cover their entry fees, transport, accommodation, food and more.
