Panthers’ roaring one year celebration with a netball tournament
The Panthers took on a few big names in the netball club world in celebration of their one year anniversary.
Roughly a year ago, the Noordheuwel Country Club’s netball division was founded under the team name ‘The Panthers’. The club’s numbers have grown exponentially since then, and today they are a fierce opponent not to be taken lightly.
On Saturday, 1 May, The Panthers hosted a total of 14 teams in games that were made up of the different clubs’ first to fourth teams. Four of these teams were from rural developmental areas and put up quite a fight against the teams which hailed from the larger cities.
After all was said and done, and the teams had given their all on the court, the One Hit Wonders club placed first, receiving a trophy and a team voucher to a local pub and grill. Barcelona club came in second place, with Swaneville Young Stars behind them in third and Senorita’s NH 1 bringing up the rear in fourth place.
The Panthers want to develop a strong community of netball players in Krugersdorp, and are open to people who want to join their various age-specific teams: Juniors (7 to 11 years old), Teens (12 to 18 years old), Seniors Social (over 18 years old) and the Seniors League team (over 18 years old).
