Less than two months to Christmas

Wait, what? Christmas is less than two months away? But I haven’t even done half the things I wanted to do since last Christmas! Yes, dear readers, it also hit me like brick wall. 2016 will be done with in less than 60 days. Scary? Yes, I think so! But why is it such a …

Wait, what? Christmas is less than two months away? But I haven’t even done half the things I wanted to do since last Christmas!

Yes, dear readers, it also hit me like brick wall. 2016 will be done with in less than 60 days.

Scary? Yes, I think so!

But why is it such a scary thought? Probably because this year literally flew by. I mean, last I checked it was still September and we were preparing ourselves for summer to arrive.

Clearly I had my head in the clouds.

Maybe it’s because this year was a really tough one. So many significant and important things happened this year. And I’m not talking about things in my personal life, I’m talking about things that happened in our country.

We were counting the days to the municipal elections, the #FeesMustFall campaigns have been ongoing for months and now the water crisis, which actually started last year, has escalated to a national crisis.

The saying that time heals all wounds might be the perfect way to say that yes, our country is going through a lot, but by this time next year things will be looking up.

Hhhhmmm … perhaps the saying should be time wounds all heels because things might look even worse by this time next year.

I am no Nostradamus and I cannot predict the future, but one thing I can say with certainty is that if we do not pull up our socks and start taking responsibility for our actions, with reference to the many crises we face, we are going to be in serious trouble.

Yes, Christmas is less than two months away, but we are days away from having no water, weeks away from completely destroying our universities and when the clock strikes midnight on 31 December, we might be seconds away from turning our beloved country into the laughing stock of the world.

Yes, that is a very scary thought.

Something to think about, Krugersdorp. Until next week.
