Man arrested for eight house robberies

A Hekpoort man was arrested for several break-ins after his fingerprints linked him to the crimes.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for house-breaking in Hartebeesfontein, Hekpoort, on Monday, 12 September – after fingerprint comparisons linked him to eight house robberies in the area.

In one of the crimes that he and five accomplices committed, he demanded money from an elderly woman, and tortured her by placing her hands and feet in her burning fire-place at Jakaranda Farm. According to a police report, the victim was traumatised and had to be taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

The investigating officers, detectives Qoboza and Nhlapo, followed up on several leads before arresting the suspect at Hartebeesfontein.

The Hekpoort Police’s station commander, Captain Zwane applauded his team for working tirelessly and leaving no stone unturned in bringing the wanted suspect to book.
