Justice served in magistrates’ court

Even though he surrendered his vehicle to the suspects, the victim was shot three times.

A man was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment recently – 15 years for attempted murder and 10 years for hijacking. The sentence was handed down in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.

Itumeleng Mamabolo and his two friends confronted a victim in his driveway on Garrick Street in Silverfields in April. The attackers pointed a firearm at the victim, demanding his vehicle. Even though he surrendered his vehicle to the suspects, the victim was shot three times. They made their escape in the vehicle, which was recovered in Kagiso later that day. The victim was taken to hospital.

Krugersdorp Police worked around the clock to find the culprits. Mamabolo was taken into custody three weeks later after police had used fingerprint technology to identify the suspects.

Brigadier Baloyi, Krugersdorp Police Station commander said he is proud of Sergeant Humphrey Mokhitli’s dedication to the case. He also said that Mokhitli was hardworking and professional as he always updated the family about the case.

“The police member showed tremendous commitment to his work,” Baloyi said.
