Maragons’ boys’ hockey teams strike again

The young sportsmen made their school proud.

Maragon Private Schools’ boys’ hockey teams have excelled yet again.

The U/14 and U/16 teams won the D12 district league. After that victory, they played in the regional play-offs on Saturday, 23 July, and both teams won their games against Hoërskool Noordheuwel and Krugersdorp High School respectively.

Their winning streak did not stop there, though. Both teams went on to play in the Noordvaal Hockey Tournament that took place in Pretoria.

This Tournament is contested by the winners of various regional Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) school leagues across all provinces north of the Vaal River. Maragon Private Schools was the smallest school to qualify.

The budding sportsmen faced giants such as teams from Hoërskool Menlopark, Hoërskool Garsfontein and Potchefstroom Gimnasium. Maragon’s U/ 14 team ended ninth overall, while the U/16 team came out eighth overall.
