Young pupil from Hoërskool Noordheuwel hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.

Paramedics and police were called to a street near a local high school after a pupil was hit by a car while crossing the road.

Community Policing Forum First Aiders and Patrollers were called to Kathleen Avenue after a young school pupil from Hoërskool Noordheuwel was knocked down while crossing the road at about 2.30pm this afternoon.

It is believed he landed on the car’s windscreen before hitting the ground. He was then helped off the road and placed in the driveway of one of the houses.

When paramedics from ER24 and Netcare 911 arrived, they found the boy already loaded into another vehicle to be taken to hospital.

The boy was assessed on the scene and then taken to hospital for further medical treatment for minor injuries sustained during the accident.

“I heard a loud bang and when I ran out to the street I saw the smashed windscreen of the vehicle. As I approached the scene, I saw the young injured boy sitting on the pavement,” one of the neighbours told the News.

The street was temporarily closed off in both directions, but reopened to make way for afternoon traffic.
