Flying squad and police nab two for hijacked vehicle

Two men were arrested after they were caught cruising in a hijacked bakkie.

Two men were arrested in Kagiso on Wednesday, 20 July after they were caught driving a stolen bakkie.

This comes after police received information from their radio about a hijacked light duty vehicle that was driving around the area. The flying squad and the police then chased the vehicle until it stopped near a shop.

When the 34 and 55-year-old suspects failed to produce documents which proved ownership of the vehicle, they were arrested and detained at the Kagiso police station. A docket of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle was opened and the suspects are expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.

“This is the kind of reaction we expect from members. I want to take my hat off to Sergeant Diedericks and his team for their good work. Let’s make life difficult for criminals who prey on people’s hard earned property,” Kagiso police station commander, Brigadier Sipho Ngubane said.
