No arrests yet following gruesome murders

The perpetrators are still at large after another broker's body was discovered in the boot of a vehicle.

No arrests have been made following the murders of two Krugersdorp insurance brokers earlier this month.

Kevin McAlpine, 29, was found in the boot of his silver BMW in Sivewright Street on 26 May, while Anthony Scholefield, 64, was found in the boot of a car the evening of 10 May.

Both McAlpine and Scholefield had appointments with potential clients just hours before they were discovered covered in plastic bags.

West Rand Cluster Police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said police have been working around the clock investigating the murders and are currently following up on various clues. However, the community is asked to report any information that may assist the police in tracking down the perpetrators.

Hundreds of messages about McAlpine’s untimely death, which sent shock waves through the West Rand, have been posted on Facebook.

Rumours also started surfacing that McAlpine, who was found in Krugersdorp’s drug and prostitution hub, was in Sivewright Street for its illicit trade. This has, however, been strongly denied as there is no evidence connecting McAlpine to any illegal activity happening that fateful night.

Police believe the modus operandi for both McAlpine and Scholefield’s murders is the same.

The McAlpine family has confirmed that they will be making the funeral date available to the public in due course. They are currently working on the memorial arrangements.

To report any information regarding the case contact the Krugersdorp Trio Task team on 079 496 6288.
