Suspect nabbed for robbery at medical practice

Suspect arrested six months after robbing medical practitioner at gun-point.

Kagiso Police arrested a 36-year-old suspect earlier this week for robbing a well-known medical practitioner and his staff at gunpoint last year.

The complainant alleged that he was in his consultation room when a stranger entered without knocking on 13 November 2015.

The suspect was in possession of a firearm which he pointed at the complainant and demanded cash.

“When the complainant gave him a R100 note, the suspect became angry and manhandled him. He then ordered the complainant to the dispensary where he took a further R300 in cash. Suddenly another armed suspect appeared,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya explained.

The suspects ordered the employees to lie on the floor before taking several cell phones.

“The complainant later noticed the third suspect walking around in his surgery. The suspects then left the complainant’s surgery, without firing a shot. The matter was reported to the police who then launched an investigation and a search for three suspects.”

One suspect was arrested on 12 May and detained at the Kagiso Police station.

He is due to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court to face business robbery charges.

“The partnership between the communities and the police to fight crime will go a long way. Working together to expose criminals is best for everyone living in the West Rand Cluster,” said the acting station commander of Kagiso Police, Colonel Albert Netshitangana.
